Fund Raising Events
Sunflower Campaign: This annual fundraising campaign takes place throughout the month of June. Specially packaged sunflower seeds, kindly donated by Vesey’s seeds, are used in door-to-door canvassing in Nova Scotia communities, as well as in and around Fredericton, New Brunswick. The seeds are also used to raise funds in various ways by businesses that are part of the Van Gogh Club.
Maple Syrup: Each March we take orders for maple syrup from the Valley for delivery in April. The maple syrup is sold in 4 litre and 1 litre jugs. Also available: 500 gram tubs of maple butter. Download the order form now!
Wine/Spirit Fair and Silent Auction: Patrons enjoy a delightful evening tasting a variety of wines and spirits and browsing the eclectic selection of items at our silent auction. Held annually in the spring at the Holiday Inn Select, Robie Street, Halifax.
Shore Club Dance and Silent Auction: We pack the place and raise the roof at this fundraising dance and silent auction, held every fall at the famous Shore Club in Hubbards, courtesy of proprietor Rhys Harnish.
Other Fund Raising Activities
Raffles, Charity Barbeques, etc.: These activities are mainly carried out by small groups of Epilepsy Association members; e.g. The Epilepsy Fun Club or one of the Epilepsy Community Action Groups around the province.
Casual Days: From time to time, companies will hold a Casual Day, or other employee event, and donate the money to The Epilepsy Association.
Purple Day: Purple Day, March 26, is a day when we ask everyone to wear purple or lavender (the official colour for epilepsy) to encourage epilepsy awareness. Businesses and groups can use Purple Day as an opportunity to raise funds by organizing various activities on Purple Day itself, during the whole of March (Epilepsy Awareness Month), or at any other time. For more information about Purple Day, please click the “Purple Day” button on the home page.
