Education Program

• Grade 5 students in the Halifax Regional Municipality are offered an epilepsy education presentation each year. Please call 429-2633 to request a presentation, or e-mail iris@epilepsyns.com.

• Schools outside of Halifax Regional Municipality are visited upon request.

• Schools can request a presentation for any grade level, including teacher in-services.

• Educational talks are given to variety of community organizations, employers, government departments, institutions, etc.

• Educational displays take place throughout the year around the province.

• March is Epilepsy Awareness Month and is the focus of a nation wide campaign to raise awareness about epilepsy. In Nova Scotia we arrange media interviews, newspaper articles, press releases, displays, etc.

• Purple Day, March 26, is a day when everyone is encouraged to wear purple (or lavender, the official colour for epilepsy) in support of epilepsy awareness. Originated by a 9 year old girl in Nova Scotia in 2008, Purple Day is celebrated nationally and internationally each year.
