Epilepsy Fun Club
The Epilepsy Fun Club is a social/recreational club, run out of the EANS office, for adults with epilepsy and their friends. Members fundraise to support their activities, such as group outings or parties for special occasions (e.g. Halloween, St. Valentine's Day). Peer support is forth- coming when needed. The Fun Club has its own newsletter, The Fun Club Gazette, which chronicles the doings of the members and upcoming events. For more information, contact Kelli or Janice at 902-429-2633.
Fun Days
“Fun Days” is a recreation program for children and teens with epilepsy. “Fun Days” provides an opportunity for these children/teens to meet others facing the same challenges and hopefully form lasting friendships through shared fun activities. Two “Fun Days” (for different age-groups) are planned for the Spring:
• Play Date for 4–7 year olds (just getting together to play and make friends – parents can also socialize). The next “Play Date” will be at Bethany United Church, Halifax, on Saturday, March 31 from 9 – 12 noon. Please call Iris Elliott at 429-2633 for more information or to register.
• Camp E – a camp day for children 8-11 and their families at a provincial park. The next “Camp E“ will be at Sir Sanford Fleming Park, Halifax (The Dingle) on Saturday, May 12. Please call Iris Elliott at 429-2633 for more information or to register.
• A new teen initiative is in the planning stages. Suggested by a professional videographer who is a member of the EANS Board, the program will give teens with epilepsy the opportunity to create videos about their experiences with epilepsy, or to raise awareness of the condition amongst their peers. Please call Iris Elliott at 429-2633 for more information about this program.
